This is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet set in modern times in one of Cairo’s oldest slums, where conflicts between the old and the new, the radical and the conservative are intertwined. This will turn Hamlet into an urban fable about social and political transformation in post 2011 revolution Egypt. Our Hamlet is Ahmed.
