Dans un futur proche à Assouan, l’héritier naturel d’un clan ancien nubien, Yehia, est dépossédé de son statut de chef par son oncle. Ce qui commence comme une histoire de vengeance tribale se change peu à peu en quête de vérité, où Yehia est témoin de l’injustice et de la corruption qui fait loi en Égypte depuis que l’eau a plus de valeur que le pétrole. À travers la reprise du mythe de Horus ancré dans l’histoire égyptienne et nubienne, Les Assoiffés du Nil illustre comment la prochaine catastrophe écologique se rapproche de nous.
In a near future in Aswan, the true heir of an ancient Nubian clan, Yehia, is deprived of his leader position because of his uncle. What begins as a story of a tribal revenge slowly turns into a quest for truth, where Yehia witnesses the injustice and corruption ruling Egypt since water has more value than oil. Through the use of the rooted myth of Horus in the Egyptian and Nubian history, Thirst illustrates how the next ecological disaster is getting closer to us.
